Frequently Asked Questions

The Event

  • What do I get for participating?  Each participant will receive a super cool t-shirt, a huge sense of accomplishment, and bragging rights for completing the Wason Pond Pounder.
  • Is this an individual or team event?  We welcome you to participate as either.
  • Will prizes be awarded for the fastest times?  Yes, for the fastest times in the 9:00 competitive wave we will be awarding cash prizes.
  • Will you have paramedics on site?  Yes.  We will take every precaution to keep participants safe, but there are risks inherent with obstacle course races.  You enter the Wason Pond Pounder at your own risk.  We will have EMT’s and ambulances on site all day.

OBSTACLES

  • What if I can’t complete an obstacle?  If there is an obstacle you are unable to or uncomfortable with completing, you will have the option to bypass, UNLESS you are vying for a prize in the competitive waves.
  • How fit should I be?  We recommend being able to walk or run a 5K, and including some strength training such as upper body work and core exercises into your workouts.
  • What if I can’t swim?  Although one or more obstacles may take you through the water at Wason Pond, there will not be anything deeper than 2 feet to 3 feet.

EVENT DAY

  • Where will I park?  ALL participants and spectators will park off site at Aggregate Industries in Raymond, 91 Chester Rd (Rte 102) in Raymond, NH just a few miles from the event.  There is NO PARKING (other than emergency vehicles and handicapped) at or near Wason Pond.  Frequent shuttles will bring people between the parking lot and the event.
  • How early should I arrive?  Plan to arrive at the parking lot at least 1 hour prior to your start time.  This will allow enough time for you to shuttle to the event and register.
  • Where will I put my stuff?  We will have a bag check available, right next to registration.
  • What should I bring to registration?  Bring your signed waiver – we will email one to you the week before the event.   If you are under age 18 your waiver will need to be signed by your parent or guardian.  We will have blank waivers available, but please remember to bring yours anyway.  It will make registration faster for you.
  • What happens at registration?  Once we have received your waiver you will receive your number, then you can head to the t-shirt table to pick up your shirt.
  • What should I bring?  We recommend bringing a warm change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for your sweaty/dirty clothes. We also ask that you bring non perishable food items for the local food pantry (you’ll get a raffle ticket in exchange!) Food & drinks will be available for sale, so bring some cash.
  • What should I wear?  We recommend comfortable running shoes and exercise clothing appropriate for the weather, such as a lightweight long sleeved shirt with running tights and/or shorts.  There will be climbing obstacles, so you may consider wearing gloves as well.
  • Can I bring my dog?  Sorry, but no dogs will be allowed at the Wason Pond Pounder.
  • What if it rains?  Then you will get wet.  Rain makes these events even better!
  • Are there showers at Wason Pond?  No, there are no showers available.  However there is a pond so feel free to jump in and wash off. We will have changing areas available.
